Plus, there are more pressing issues at hand! First off, I can hardly contain my tween teenybopper joy, as AMERICAN IDOL STARTS TONIGHT. 7:00PM can’t come fast enough- it’s worse than Christmas I tell you! It’s even opening from Phoenix, where I hope to see my winning pick- as you may remember, I have the uncanny ability to pick the winner or 1st runner up from the auditions. I’ve been correct for the last four seasons! I’m quite excited to see how this season progresses, as there have been a number of big changes now that producer Nigel Lithgow has moved on.  I’m also wondering how the hell they are going to break a tie now that there are four judges. Maybe they’ll ask Ryan Seacrest to cast the tie breaking ballot? Maybe they’ll flip one of Paula’s Percocet?

In other news, Ruca is sporting some mighty fancy bling these days.

1. Shear Genius

Okay, so we all know I’m an American Idol JUNKIE so it’s only fitting that I would get hooked on an elimination-style reality show based around the BEAUTY industry! Loves it! God, and what group of professionals have more over the top personalities than hair stylists? None I tell you! Reality TV at it’s finest.

2. Project Runway

You can really use the entire explanation for #1 here as well, but this show has a little more cred. I have gotten to work with two project runway peeps in my makeup career- Chloe Dao and Kayne Gillespie… so awesome!

3. Good Eats

Anyone who doesn’t love Alton Brown is a commie. I love watching him explain all the wonderful things about food, and his recipes are always spot on. Also, the DVR gives me the option to DELETE all the meat related episodes, and focus on the yummy fruit, veg and baked goods :)

4. Iron Chef America

I used to watch the Japanese version at my parents house, and I still loved it. This is even better because it’s not dubbed!

5. Clean House

I often fantasize about Neicy Nash coming to my house and getting rid of all my mayhem and foolishness, because it is rife with such. I don’t think I’d have much to sell in a yard sale, unfortch.

6. Nip/Tuck

BEST.SHOW.EVER. This filthy little program is my all time favorite. Just when you think they can’t get any crazier, they up the ante. Plus, who doesn’t want to oogle Julian McMahon?!

7. Monster Quest

Right before I got cable, one of my BF’s who happens to also be my neighbor came over and we watched episodes of this show on youtube. I am soo into cryptozoology and all the freaky parts of nature that this show totally captivated me. Not being the brightest girls ever, we stopped on the episode about ghosts and hauntings and such… I, of course, had to sleep on the couch with all the lights on. I’m such a pansy.

8. Extreme Makeover

Oh man, this show never fails to make me cry! I didn’t even think it was on air anymore, but I found it playing re-runs and I’m stoked. I get SO jealous when they all get fabulous photo-facials and Davinci porcelain veneers. I’m set on plastic surgery for awhile, but man oh man do I want my skin lasered and my teeth fixed!

9. The Soup

Joel McHale never ceases to entertain me with his biting commentary. Lou the chihuahua is Ruca’s favorite, naturally :)

10. Intervention

Some people watch Jerry Springer to make themselves feel ‘normal’…. I choose Intervention for said purposes! It is refreshing though, to see these people at their lowest points and how they can totally turn themselves around. Unfortunately, not all of them pull it off, but I like that they don’t only feature the happy endings. It’s crazy to know how real addiction is, and how addicts can come from perfectly happy, normal families. It’s a disease that surely doesn’t discriminate.

11. Made

Don’t make fun of me, but I love this little show! It’s a guilty pleasure, but I love watching about these dorky kids who get whipped into shape. How cute is it when they make these nerdy boys put on speedos and go talk to chicks on the beach? Their big culminations are often tear-jerking, but always heart warming.

12. True Life

I just cancelled my Netflix in an attempt to trim the fat around the budget, and this satisfies my very serious documentary addiction.

13. Reno 911

Most underrated show EVER! It’s almost completely improv and these folks CRACK ME UP. I know I could watch it on my other good rabbit-ears channel, but it was on so late I rarely got to see it or I was super tired the next day at work. With my trusty DVR, I get to watch the gang in all their glory whenever the mood strikes!!!! Especially Dangle and his sexy little shorts!

PS- don’t worry about me turning into one of those “reality show recap” blogs. I may comment, but I leave the wordy overviews to the people who do it best (IE pinkisthenewblog and fourfour). This will change come January when American Idol starts again. Sorry folks, it’s in my blood!

In reality, she was probably just crabby from getting her Rabies booster a few hours earlier, but still. She seemed to be sharing in my misery last night.

Okay, so I’d feel like a crappy fangirl if I didn’t use my ever-so-small soapbox to beg for votes for my little darling David Archuleta. Tonight is the FINALE… Even if you’re not an Idol fan, this is the night to watch (and vooooote)

Oh, but Molly… didn’t you initially pick David Cook for the win during the auditions?

The short answer to that is yes, and I’m never one to sway from my original picks (see: Carrie Underwood, Katherine McPhee, and Blake Lewis), however Archie’s audition was during one of only two episodes I missed so my falling in love with him didn’t happen until the first Hollywood round. But ever since then, I’ve been TEAM ARCHULETA ALL THE WAY. However, my elite skills of Idol picking out of the auditions is still on point, because everyone I’ve picked has either won or gotten 2nd (aka got robbed) so even if Cook wins, it’s just another tribute to my supreme skill.

Anyway, it’s gonna be a hellova show!
