Filed under: Ellie Lynn, SuperMom, SUPERWIFE JENNY.It’s amazing how much your entire brain changes when you have a baby… my mind is consumed by completely new things, all day every day. I have no idea how new mothers ever survived without the researching tools we have available to us today… between the countless books I have on my shelves and the internet, I’m reluctant to ever call a doctor with a “stupid” question.
So, I give you…
SuperMommy Paranoia - Things I’ve Googled Since Giving Birth (in no specific order)
- How often should I be breasfeeding my newborn?
- How long should I breastfeed my newborn at each sitting?
- Breastfeeding tips – latching
- Cures for bleeding nipples
- How much milk should my newborn be drinking every day?
- How much milk should I be pumping per session?
- Is it normal for one breast to produce more milk?
- Is it okay for my newborn to breastfeed if my nipples are bleeding?
- When should I supplement formula?
- How do I stimulate my breasts to produce more milk?
- How often should I bathe my baby?
- Why does my baby have a rash on her face?
- Should I use ointment if my baby doesn’t have diaper rash?
- When would I use baby powder vs A&D vs Desitin?
- How many diapers should my baby go through per day?
- Does beer help produce milk?
- How do I know if my breastshields for my breastpump fit properly?
- Symptoms of thrush – how do I know if I have it?
- When do babies smile?
- How do I know when to go up a diaper size?
- Can you overfeed a newborn?
- How do I get my baby to sleep in her bassinett?
- How to swaddle a baby
- What if my baby doesn’t like being swaddled?
- How much alcohol can I drink while I’m breastfeeding?
- Is it necessary to pump & dump if I drink wine while breastfeeding?
- How do I trim by baby’s fingernails?
- How do you bite your baby’s fingernails?
- Is it normal for my 1 month old to still be wearing preemie diapers?
- Do I have to warm up my baby’s bottle or can she drink it cool?
Seriously… there’s more. I just can’t remember everything because I usually google on my iphone while I’m breastfeeding in the middle of the night. If I had to call my doctor to ask all of these questions, he would probably fire me.

1. Feed when she is hungry.
2. When she stops nursing
3. I am sure she is latching on by now
4. They will toughen up before you know it/lanolin helps
5. Until she is full
6. Until you are empty
7. Lopsided is BEAUTIFUL
8. Yes your bleeding nipples are not the first (lots of kids drank pink milk)
9. Don’t supplement unless you need to. Breast is best
10. A dry washcloth rubbed across them helps… Might now want to right now. Loving, touching and squeezing helps, (she will do all the work for you)
11. When she smells funny or when you want to bond with bubbles. Clean babies smell AMAZING
12. Milk and skin to skin contact can irritate her perfect skin
13. Not if she doesn’t need it
14. corn starch – just clean fanny is best
15. as many as she dirties
16. ABSOLUTELY My grandmother made me drink a warm flat dark beer in the hospital. My milk came in within the hour. Both girls. The nurse said your milk cannot possibly be in and I sat up. She fetched me some breast pads asap.
17. You will leak like a bad garden hose
18. white lumps on her tongue and itchy nipples… You will know
19. When the angels kiss them
20. no the stop when topped off
21. you lay her in it
22.wrap then snugly in a receiving blanket
23.don’t swaddle her
24. not a lot. some makes the baby sleep good. you will find a balance. if you do go out just dump the rusty load. you will be fine, you are not a lush… :o)
25. If I had a few too many I gave the milk to the cat
26. I bit them off. No errors that way clippers scared me too much, probably a better way but it worked for Molly and Missie
27. sure, she is gonna grow, relax and enjoy the tiny time as it is so fleeting
28. you cant microwave a boob so don’t worry, the temperature is always Just Right!!
You got this… Even with out Google. I am so proud of you. She is perfect and so is your family.

Check out a website called http://www.babycenter.com. I’m sure you have already done this but just in case….
They also have a community area where you can go on a board that has a forum for October 2010 babies only. You can see that everyone has these questions and you can also get opinions from a variety of people and run with it. :)
